Character Name: Gupta M. Hassan

Age: 19

Appearance: Lanky and awkward looking, tanned skin and deep amber eyes. He is about 5’ 7” and has small hands. He keeps his black hair short and usually covered with a traditional Arabic head dress called a keffiyeh. He usually wears western style clothing but when he attends mosque he wears traditional attire. He usually keeps a straight face, not showing a hint of emotion. His clothes are usually natural tones, with occasional blues and greens. Though he is from an arid country his skin is remarkably smooth.

Mutant Abilities: Terrakinesis, or the ability to move earth and stone with his mind. At present he can move small and medium sized objects with ease and large stones with concentration. He is experimenting with control of these stones such as shaping them into statues and artwork. So far its crude at best. When under digress he can cause the earth’s plates to shift and can cause tremors. He uses medium stones for travel by using his power to float them along the ground but so far can manage short distances.

Sexuality: He believes he is straight, but he is not fully sure.

Personality: Stoic and stalwart as the earth itself. He doesn’t really show much emotion outwardly. He is caring, but he prefers to show these traits with subtlety. He is loyal and dependable, if he makes a promise he will keep it. He doesn’t like large crowds, preferring small intimate groups . He prefers natural settings but he does like modern brick or stone buildings. He is a quiet fellow, not much for long drawn out conversations. He likes reading and shows particularly interest in geology, pottery, and stonework.

Background: He was born just outside of Cairo in a sand dune. It was said his mother, seeking asylum from his stern and rigid father to the United States escaped one night while severely pregnant hoping to reach the nearest American military outpost before her delivery. Sadly, she did not make it. She took him in her arms and coddled him throughout the night, trying to regain her strength. During the night a storm blew up, unable to travel so soon after giving birth she prayed, kissed her baby, named him Gupta and awaited the worst.

She awoke the next morning to find she was in a small enclave made of stone that shielded her from the worst of it. She figured she had managed to crawl to one in the confusion of the storm. She continued on her journey to the outpost where the guards could not turn her away, especially not with a newborn. One guard remarked on the strange amber color of his eyes as they took her in. Through much convincing and a difficult diplomatic solution his mother was able to secure a divorce and asylum. Gupta was granted dual citizenship and was raised on the base. He was a shy child, clinging to his mother and reading whatever books he could find. He loved books about nature and geology the most. He would often walk along the outskirts of the base watching the sand dunes shift and move as he stared at them. Slowly, he came to the realization that he was the one doing it. He began to try to move stones he found along the paved roads and slowly it became easier to do. His mother caught him doing this one day and he was terrified. She took him in her arms and told him of the night he was born. He realized he was gifted. With tears in her eyes she told him he should go to the United States and develop his powers.

He refused adamantly. As the words fell from his lips he saw the look on her face. He fell to his knees, causing a tremor that rang throughout the base. Many buildings were damaged but luckily he was not blamed. He reconsidered and left soon for a place he had only read about in books. As he arrived in the USA he suffered from severe culture shock and retreated to a small college where he could study geology. Due to his quick skill and innate ability he was granted the opportunity for a special independent research project. He has decided to study the usage of stone in the modern age. He feels this will help him get used to larger crowds and a better understanding of his powers.
